The tour with Joao was a fantastic experience! This isn't some leisurely tourist ride; it's a real blast. The route was perfectly suited to our skill level and offered stunning views between the challenging sections. A great variety of fast, technical sections with some stretches of asphalt to catch our breath. Anyone who can ride a motorcycle but hasn't yet experienced off-road riding will absolutely love it.

Hi Luxembourger, it was a great experience, João was a great instructor and explained the basics of offroad/cross riding to us which really helped. Although I have been riding motorcycles on the road for 12 years, it was completely new to me and we felt like beginners🤣 but thanks to João's tips we got there quickly and had a great time together. At noon we went to a local cafe/restaurant together for lunch which was also very good. We were also all given complete motocross equipment. And everything was included in the price.
Conclusion: I would recommend this to anyone who has petrol in their blood and likes riding motorcycles and has always wanted to try it, and a great location in Madeira with great views along the way. João of course makes it difficult, whether you are a beginner or not, definitely recommended.

Me and my friend went for a motorcross tour in januari. It was an unforgettable experience, joao was incredibly patient while at the same time pushing us to our limit to learn and experience. Highly recommend!

Amazing day with João! We saw so many incredible places and breathtaking landscapes, experiencing the truly authentic side of Madeira, its wildlife, and its lush vegetation.

Did a fantastic half-day enduro ride. João himself is a top rider; he gives brief, clear instructions on what to look out for and assesses your skill level. Varied course including an MX circuit. Fair price, definitely worth the money. Highly recommended!

I booked a full-day tour and was very impressed. João is very friendly and knows the island extremely well, which allows him to tailor the tours to the abilities of the participants. It's not just a tour, but more of a training course where you can learn a great deal.

What’s left to say that has not already been said in other reviews? João is a legend. Super nice guy, great rider and the atmosphere felt super comfortable, just like a day getting out with your riding buddies.
I rode a Husqvarna fe250 4 stroke and it was in great shape, felt like a new bike. He gave great tips and showed us some incredible terrain that the island has to offer. He had lots of gear options and I found things that fit well.
I’m so glad he had some availability for me on short notice because it was the highlight of my trip! I will be coming back to explore more trails - don’t hesitate to book a ride! Thanks João - see you again!

Joao at Enduro Madeira gave my 17-year-old son the dirt bike ride of his life! Joao’s communication was incredible from start to finish. The gear was top-notch, and the bikes were exceptionally well maintained. He even captured and shared some amazing photos from the ride! My son had absolute best time in Madeira exploring the island by bike. I cannot recommend Joao and Enduro Madeira highly enough! My son had the time of his life, and I felt completely at ease. 10/10!

It was a pleasure riding with you, João! Full gear and a top bike included, and the terrain is genuinely challenging – but with enough commitment you'll learn an incredible amount about riding in a short time. It was epic, great bikes, João was a great teacher, incredibly beautiful trails and countryside. Enduro is a spectaculair way to discover the island. We teamed up with João and it was an incredible learning experience. João was pushing us to our limits (we asked for it) and along the way instructed us effectively on tactics and techniques: throttle/clutch control, negotiating terrain etc. We first did a one-day gig but it was so cool that we came back for more, it’s addictive.

I booked an enduro day tour and I'm absolutely thrilled. There were two of us plus a guide. Since we were both complete enduro beginners, our guide João took plenty of time at the start: He explained the basics of enduro riding so we could practice extensively on a training course before heading out onto the trails. João perfectly tailored the entire tour to our skill level.
After the first off-road sections, a real highlight awaited us: We got to ride at the Madeira motocross park and really let loose! After a relaxing lunch break at a cozy local restaurant, we continued our journey across the island to explore its breathtaking scenery.
Regarding the equipment:
The bikes were in good condition (I rode a Husqvarna FE 350). All the necessary gear was provided – from boots, knee pads, and a protective vest to pants, jersey, helmet, and backpack.
... Conclusion:
I can highly recommend this tour to everyone – whether beginner or advanced. For me, it's the best, most exciting, and most interesting way to discover the island! Many thanks to João for this unforgettable experience!

Awesome off-road experience! João is a fantastic guide and explains the techniques and tips so clearly that you can understand and put them into practice right away.
I also really appreciated that he took photos and videos throughout the tour. This way, you not only have a great experience but also wonderful memories to take home.

Absolutely incredible trip. I just got back from Madeira where I went with a friend to spend 3 days with João at Enduro Madeira. This was my first time trying enduro, and I had very little motorbiking experience, having only just got my licence, so I was a total beginner and wasn't sure what to expect — but this turned out to be one of the best holidays I’ve ever had.
João made the whole experience feel incredibly personal and bespoke. He designed the tour totally around our ability level, picked us up and dropped us back at the airport, collected us from our hotel each morning, and made everything completely seamless.
The riding itself was incredible, but what really stood out was João’s instruction. We had 2-to-1 tuition the whole time, and he was calm, relaxed, clear, and encouraging throughout. I learned a huge amount. He is totally fluent in English, explains things brilliantly, and he is also a really lovely person to spend time with.
I learned an enormous amount in a short time and have completely caught the enduro bug. I can’t wait to go back. Highly, highly recommended!

My husband did a half day tour and absolutely loved it! João was super nice & easy to communicate with. He said he needs to come back so he can go again! Husband rides single track off road biking back home but said this was definitely much different then home, he really enjoyed the challenge and João helps you out if needed / makes sure to tailor the day to the groups skill level. We had a truly exciting and thrilling Enduro tour with Joao. He guided us to hotspots around the hills with breathtaking views (if it hadn’t been so foggy). He took amazing photos and videos of us that still allow us to fondly remember this wonderful tour.

We had a awesome 3 days of riding with Joao. We had plenty of varied riding which Joao tailored to our groups skill level perfectly. Single track wooded sections, hill climbs, fire roads, mx tracks and great scenery. Bikes were in good condition. Madeira really is a nice island with nice people. Good food and cheap beer and is easy to get to from the uk. Whats more to want, overall a 10/10 trip. Thanks Joao, maybe we will meet again in the future.

João is a great, no-nonsense guy. We had a great day, and the road section was just as much fun as the enduro. We would have preferred to do it for multiple days. Highly recommended if you have some experience with this type of motorcycle. He's not so soft that you just jump on, but you don't have to be a pro either. His clothing and safety gear are excellent. Despite the wet weather we had a great time.
João definitely challenged us, while not overwhelming us. Because of the clouds the views werent great but we still got to see plenty of the great nature here.
My mom didn't have any offroad experience, but with joãos help she got pretty confident real quick.
Definitely worth a try if you're already in Madeira.

In short, it was the best experience I've ever had riding a motorbike. I was very excited and had a lot of respect for what lay ahead of me, as I had never ridden an enduro motorbike before, only road bikes and mountain bikes. My mountain biking experience helped me a lot when riding the Husqvarna on the wet and slippery trails.
It rained all day, it was wet, cold, muddy, and "Madeira Ice" caused me to fall more than once. For João, this was never a problem; he would just get up, carry on, and try the next challenge. And when the mud really made it impossible to continue, he always helped and even rode parts of the trail himself when I couldn't get any further. Despite the weather, or perhaps because of it, the day was super exciting and, right up to the last minute, one of the best adventures I've ever had.
Thank you for the experience and for constantly challenging me. I can absolutely recommend João and Enduro Madeira. I will be back.

Fantastic area for riding! Suitable for both enduro and hard enduro. The bikes are in good condition and there's plenty of gear and clothing. I didn't bring anything and still managed to ride for a day! The guy was super friendly! Highly recommended!

Joao leads a fantastic enduro tour of the island where you don’t have to worry about anything! All gear you’ll need is provided and you get to ride some awesome bikes through very diverse terrain. Joao offers different routes for different skill levels and the views were incredible! Joao also speaks fantastic English which was very helpful! Highly recommended and more than worth the money!

It's the perfect activity for people who are into off-roading and want to experience the island in a completely different way. I was out with João today; he gave me lots of great tips and took excellent care of me the whole time. It was the perfect mix of being shown around and learning by doing. It was worth every penny, and I would do it again in a heartbeat. Not only did I improve my off-road skills, but I also had the opportunity to see places on Madeira that you can't see on any other guided tour.

Highly recommend as he is very patient, supporting and a very good instructor + really cool guy overall 🙂 Bikes were very well prepared, trails were difficult enough so we could progress and train, but not to the point we would feel completely discouraged.

I had the best time!! João Did a great job at figuring out my level of riding and then finding trails that were perfect for my ability. His gear was in great condition and he had different bikes that you can choose. He was patient and extremely supportive with my riding. He is knowledgeable in both dirt biking and local information. He is an excellent guide and I can’t wait to do this again with him.

What a day out!! I'd never riden a dirt bike before and I was nervously excited beforehand. It was such a learning curve, such a lot to take in. It was hard work both physically and mentally. I was well out of my comfort zone and encouraged to do what I thought I couldn't. I needed that encouragement and that little push to progress. Joao was excellent, a good teacher, very knowledgeable and really nice bloke. I definitely progressed and gained confidence as the day wore on. I loved it and wished I'd booked more than one day.

Great experience. The guys have several different bikes available and rent you all the necessary gear. We rode on various mule tracks and then spent time at an enduro training ground and on a very nice motocross track. I recommend it to all enthusiasts.

Let's go for an incredible 3-hour discovery of the island on the handlebars of my Sherco!
João is truly passionate, he introduced me to his playground, alternating rolling and technical/Hard passages, the best
He gets there gradually and even gives him some advice (which I ask him) because he manages the boy!!!
You can go there with your eyes closed!
He of course lends all the equipment to size and in good condition!

Amazing experience!
Ahead of the tour, I explained to João that I am a beginner in terms of enduro and off road riding. He approached this as a total professional - explained me everything from the very start, taught me basics, helped me understand the ideology behind the off-road riding and last but not least he showed the Madeira Island how I had never seen it before - My god, those trails and the views!
I'm looking forward to come back and book the tour again!

Amazing experience! João took me on an unforgettable enduro ride through some of the most stunning and rugged parts of Madeira. The trails were fun and challenging at the same time.
João is super friendly, professional, and knows the island like the back of his hand. Everything was taken care of — the bike, the gear, the guidance — so I could just focus on enjoying the ride.

I went on a three-day cross/enduro tour in Madeira with my two brothers, organized by Mountain Gadget – and honestly, it was one of the best experiences of my life!
Our guide João was absolutely amazing. Even though we were all beginners, he perfectly adjusted the rides to our skill level, so we always felt safe but still had plenty of excitement and fun. You could really tell how experienced he is – he knew exactly how to motivate us and guide us through every type of terrain.
On top of that, João is just a genuinely friendly and helpful guy. You can ask him anything – whether it’s about riding techniques or just general tips about the island – and he’s always happy to help.
I had an incredible time and would highly recommend these tours to anyone who’s up for an unforgettable adventure in Madeira – whether you're a beginner or experienced rider. Thank you João and Mountain Gadget – I’ll definitely be back!

The cross bike tour was super exhausting but in the best way possible! Great route, amazing views, and an awesome guide. Legs are dead, but I’d do it again anytime!

Absolutely Fantastic, what an amazing experience. João organised everything, including airport transfer and accommodation, making the tour such a memorable experience. The bikes were prepared and ready to go when we arrived at the garage each morning, the trails were amazing which João planned the route each day to suit our capability including some challenging routes to push our limits and improve our skills all helped by João extensive knowledge of the islands trails.
We will definitely be back to explore more of the island and ride with João again soon.

A great way to see Madeira from a different perspective. Basic motorcycle riding skills are required, but Joerge will adapt the route to your riding skills. In addition to the guarantee of fantastic views, you can learn a lot about the island and at the same time improve your off-road skills. Apart from the fact that the guide/instructor is very communicative, he drives fantastically and you can learn a lot. 100% recommend! 🙂

Unfortunately I only spent one day with João, but next time I know I will book more days!
He catered to every driver's every request and showed us the beautiful forests and landscapes of Madeira. You get everything on site and don't actually have to take anything with you, the equipment and bikes were in very good condition!

We traveled to Madeira Island for the 2025 New Year. My very adventurous boys, husband and father in law decided to take a dirt bike tour with Enduro Madeira. They came home absolutely raving about it. They saw part of the Country that could not otherwise be seen through regular roads. The said it was challenging and rewarding all at once and the best part was that the owner Joao was so incredibly supportive and skilled that they felt at ease navigating the steep mountain side. We would recommend this tour to any outdoor adventurist who enjoys dirt biking and is up for a challenge!!!

If you like to ride a motorbike and want to have lifelong memories of Madeira, this is a MUST experience !!!!
Never ridden a dirt bike? No problem, for the first hour, your experienced guide Joao will give you lessons on how to ride it. Then you'll be good enough to ride off-road in the forest of Madeira :)
Joao will choose the right roads based on your offroad experience.
If you are not a beginner, You can even choose a few-day trip around the island of Madeira - an incredible experience!
But if you're a beginner like my husband and I were (we only ride Harleys), a 3 hour trip is enough to have a lot of fun.

Had a day out with Joao last Wednesday. Simple to book, good comms to arrange a route to match what skills I’ve got. Nice 300 Husky with decent kit to wear.
Day was sufficiently challenging but not too crazy for us. Explored locations we’d never get to without being shown.
Joao had all the patience you’d want to improve your bike control.

We had an amazing day today with Enduro Madeira!!! It was my brother in laws first time enduro riding. Nuno, our guide, took the time to assess our riding skills to cater the day around our abilities. We were shown some breathtaking mountaintops for once in a lifetime photos opportunities and of course some technical hill climbs to keep the adrenaline pumping!
